Event Analyser software is used by worlds best engineers including Microsoft PSS to diagnose computer problems with Event Logs (evt files).
The tool is now publicly available for sale (its not Microsoft internal anymore).

You will need the .Net 1.1 framework and LogParser installed for the program to work.
For charting you may also need the OWC component
